I love Christmas, but it’s often hard to know what to get, especially if you want to be ethical about your gifting.
I try to be considerate about my gifts, and I love to find unique ideas that not only delight the recipient (nobody loves getting the ‘fake happy’ face when someone is disappointed after all), but also don’t harm the planet or risk ending up in landfill.
This year, I’ve explored some of my favourite planet-friendly sites to find some beautiful presents for everyone in your life (or yourself, which is just as important in my book 😉).
FOR LITTLE ONES
I love these handcrafted, sustainable rattles from Barney and Bella, which help support simple hand-eye coordination and are fully safe.
Encourage their imaginations with sustainable role play sets from The Kids Collective – made from sustainable wood, they’re ideal for increasing concentration and helping with social engagement ()
Niji’s Dream is the beautiful story of a little alien who went on a giant adventure. Ideal for primary age children, it offers a chance to talk about what it means to be different, brave and resilient.
If you want to go REALLY spendy, treat Mum to one of these beautiful Anya Hindmarch ‘I am a Plastic Bag’ bags. Made from recycled plastic bottles, that would otherwise have been destined for the sea, it’s a clever, stylish way to make a difference
For fashion and fitness conscious mums, Cucumber Clothing offer a beautiful range of cooling, comfortable and sustainable clothing. Created by female founders with ethical fashion at its heart, they’re a great choice.
Skincare can be a challenging choice, but our Rose Trial/Travel Gift Set is a really lovely option that suits all skin types. It includes:
1 x Timeless Rose Moisturiser, 15ml
1 x Creamy Coconut Cleanser, 30ml
1 x Calming Rose Petal Tonic 5ml
Or for a treat you can get the full size versions of the same nourishing products in the Large Rose Gift Set.
Both sets are beautifully packaged in a reusable box, and are skin and earth kind.
FOR NEW MUMS
A day off: Being a new mum is a tough time. Why not make up your own vouchers, for treats like a pedicure, doing the dishes, a nap or a day off – she can then hand them over when she most needs them.
Our Baby Gift Set (https://odylique.co.uk/baby-gift-set/) is also a lovely choice for a new mum or mum to be. Including all the baby skincare essentials, it’s organic, natural and safe for both baby and Mum
FOR BEST FRIENDS
Fable Jewellery is a beautiful, earth kind accessories range that celebrates the English countryside. They source plastic refuse and are partnered with Make it Wild, to offset their carbon emissions. I especially love their charm collection.
None of us loves the plastic food boxes the council dumps on us, so I’m a huge fan of these green and red food compost caddies, from All Green. It’s vintage style, with a carbon hood to stop niffs and room for compostable bags.
Our Revitalise and Cleanse Gift Set is a lovely option for a cost-effective present that still delivers on the ‘delight’ front. You can choose between products depending on her skin care needs and it’s beautifully packaged.
I’m a huge fan of Little Karma Co refillable and recyclable candles, and the Up Yours Corona one is a great option for a guy who likes both a laugh and a little luxury. Each purchase of the refillable also means a donation of £1 to Mind, so it’s a beautiful choice all round.
Gin Etc ‘make your own gin’ kit was recently voted most environmentally friendly choice by readers of Good Food and it’s not hard to see why – their kits are beautifully, but ethically packaged, recyclable and really good fun.
One of our original and best-loved gifts is our Gardener’s Rescue Kit. Ideal for hard-working hands, it pairs our Calendula Balm for soothing dry skin and Spot on Serum for repairing cuts and grazes.
