We think all Odylique customers are pretty inspiring – it takes someone compassionate, with an open mind and a desire to make a difference to fully appreciate what goes into our products and the wider impact that they have.

Fiona Quinn is one of these inspirational customers and she visited Odylique HQ to tell us about her recent adventure!

Fiona’s Story

After quitting her day job, Fiona decided it was time for her to do something for herself and got outside and moving – and hasn’t stopped since!
In 2016, Fiona was the first person to complete the Cam Triathlon, over 180 miles by foot, bicycle and SUP.  In Spring 2017 she upped the anti and walked the length of Great Britain, covering 993 miles in 57 days. This was followed in September by cycling almost
1200 miles, solo and unsupported, from Lands End to John O’Groats.

Fiona has walked and cycled the length of Britain and is now looking to complete her triathlon by Stand Up Paddle-boarding (SUP) the 800 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats. This is something that has never been done before and so Fiona is looking to gain a world record once completed.

Fiona had two crew join her along the way in a support boat. The boat is where they lived – finding somewhere to moore each night. They were hugely impacted by weather, particularly wind on how far they can travel each day and where they will stop each night.

Fiona can SUP around three miles an hour and the tide will add another mile onto that. Going with the tide, Fiona completed two lots of 4-5 hour stints each day, which equates to travelling around 30-40 miles a day. In total, the trip took around 6 months to complete!

What was the route?

Fiona’s journey started at Land’s End and along the west coast and up to the South of Wales. Fiona will then SUP over to Ireland and along the east coast (which is more sheltered in comparison to the Welsh Coast). From there she went up to Scotland and along the Scottish coast to Fort William. Here Fiona went along the Caledonian Canal (from the west to east of Scotland) and then completed the final section of Scottish coast up to John O’Groats.

Fiona wants to bring awareness and fly the flag for environmental sustainability, which is close to her heart, having dipped her toes in the organic skincare industry herself.

Throughout her journey, Fiona used organic, recycled and reusable products, making her the greenest SUP-er out there! We are grateful that some of these products included our Natural Sun Screen and Organic Mascara, which have accompanied Fiona on her travels before.
