A Glam Evening Look With Organic Make Up Artist Laura Jane Sessions

Add a twist to your evening make-up with a look inspired by one of this seasons catwalk favourites – the muted smokey eye. We love a Smokey eye and this is a soft smokey look that is totally wearable during the day as well as in the evening.

In an ideal world we would have the time to have a complete make-up change before going from work to play but that is often not the case. This make-up is designed to be applied to fresh, clean skin but it works equally well built up on top of your day make-up. See our Day Makeup Look Blog for day time inspiration! And with the party season on the not so distant horizon, we thought we would share Laura Jane Sessions’ simple festive party make-up using Odylique Mineral Makeup

1. Base

Prep your skin well. I used Avocado 24hr Replenishing Cream followed by a few drops of Superfood Concentrate to hydrate my skin. Apply your foundation before moving on to concealer. Using a small brush I applied the Mineral Concealer (in Fair) to the shadows under my eyes and then covered any blemishes using the slightly darker shade (Medium).

2. Eyes

Comb through your eyebrows with a brow brush or clean mascara wand and then define them using a matte eyeshadow, brow powder or pencil. Apply Gold Mineral Eyeshadow across your eye lid up to the socket line.

Using a clean eyeshadow brush apply Bark Mineral Eyeshadow into the socket line  and blend using small circular motions, softening any hard edges.

Using another clean brush (if you don’t have one then remove as much of the shadow from the brush as possible onto a clean tissue) blend the shadow on the lid upwards (into the socket) and outwards in order to soften the outer edges.

Top Tip: Be wary of over-blending your eyeshadow as this can make colours look a little muddy and also lessen the impact.

Run a little Bark shadow along the lower lash line using a small brush and blend, smudging it as much as your dare! Press a little more gold onto the lid and the inner corners for added sparkle. Carefully apply Brown Eyeliner Pencil to the water line and upper lash line.

Give your lashes a bit of va-va-voom use lash curlers to open up the eye and then apply a couple of coats of Black Mascara.

If you fancy, finish by applying some false lashes. You could either use half lashes in the outer corners of your eyes or big and bold strip lashes – go for your life!

Top Tip: if you are usually a little messy in your eye make-up application then apply the eye make-up before any other product. Any fallout is easier to clean up with wipes or make-up remover.

3. Cheeks

If you are going straight from the office for impromptu drinks or only have limited products to hand, a great cheat is to use lipstick on the cheeks to add a little colour. Using your finger (or a brush), apply the lipstick to the apples of the cheeks and then worked it up along the cheekbone. I used #12 here but you could use any of the Odylique lipsticks.

4. Lips

Begin by lining your lips using Rose Lip Liner. This is a versatile lip liner which looks equally good with a nude lipstick or a strong red! Follow with your lipstick of choice. Here I used #12, Blot the lips well using a tissue to ensure longevity.

5. Final Touches

I finished by adding a little Gold Mineral Eyeshadow to the tops of my cheekbone. This works well as a highlight, especially on darker skin tones.
